Emergency crews at California Adventures?  What happened?

Well on Friday, July 22, 2011 the roller coaster California Screamin came to a screamin halt when it got stuck at the bottom of a loop.

What stop the coaster?  A backpack fell out of one of the cars when at the top of a loop on the roller coaster, landing on the tracks below and causing the other cars to automatically stop.  The roller coaster did as it was designed to do, stopping when something landed on the track to prevent a derailment.  Park Officials called the Anaheim Fire Department urban search and rescue team and the paramedics stationed at California Adventures to the scene immediately after the ride was stopped.  They removed 24 people uninjured from the coaster in 25 minutes.  They were stuck no more than 20 feet up and emergency crews were able to use a ground ladder to rescue all riders.  Once all passengers were removed safely the backpack was removed from the tracks.

The ride was then closed for the remainder of Friday night as it is Disney’s protocol to do a full inspection before reopening to ensure the safety of its riders.

DISNEY VAULT

Looking for the Disney Movie you fell in love with but can’t find it anywhere? Well it just might be one of the movies Disney has placed in the Disney Vault. No there is no actual vault with all the movies lined up on shelves, its simply a term that Disney uses when it takes a movie out of production.

Why would Disney take a movie out of production? This is all a marketing tool that works extremely well for Disney. When removing the movie from production it creates demand and excitement for the next release date especially when it is only offered for a limited time. As we all know Disney Movies are extremely popular however we don’t always buy them. We watch them at the movies, on TV or better yet are kids watch one like Lion King at a friends house and now want it. However Disney has removed the movie from production and oh no you didn’t buy it. Although you will be disappointed for a while Disney will release the movie again, that’s if you still want it at that time or better yet search the intranet.

Is this still working for Disney? Not as well as it use to. You got to love the intranet. People are able to buy sale/re-sale just about anything on the intranet today, including Disney movies that have been placed in the Disney Vault. Years ago when Disney placed a movie in the vault the movie became very expense that is not so much the case today however Disney usually comes out with a Limited Addition to generate more excitement and more $$$.

Here is the list of movies that have been placed in the Disney Vault

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1973) – Disney just put back in the vault

Pinocchio (1940) – Was released on 3/10/09

Fantasia (1940) (Replaced Aladdin) – Disney just put back in the vault

Bambi (1942) – Was released from Disney Vault on 3/1/11

Cinderella (1950)

Peter Pan (1953)

Lady and the Tramp (1955)

Sleeping Beauty (1959)

101 Dalmatians (1961)

The Jungle Book (1967)

The Little Mermaid (1989)

Beauty and the Beast (1991) – Was released on 10/5/10

The Lion King (1994) – Next release from Disney Vault is fall of 2011 (look for 3D)

Attractions at Disneylands California Park

Disney land in California is so large it is sometimes difficult to decide which attractions you want to see. If you have several days, you can probably see them all, however if you only have one day to spend at the park, you probably will want to prioritize so that you get to experience those attractions that are at the top of your list. In this post we decided to provide a short description about each attraction to help you in your decision about which attractions to see. Feel Free to leave us comments on any of these attractions!

There are two main theme parks at Disney land, California – the first is Disney’s California Adventure park and the other is known as Disneyland Park. We have separated the attractions into these two different parks to help with your decisions about what to see.

Attractions  at Disney’s California Adventure Park

Soarin’ Over California- ever been on a hang glider? Well now you can experience what it is like to hang glide in the safety of a Disney ride and get to see what California is like from the air! Starting in San Francisco, with the golden gate bridge, to the south crossing over Palm Springs and San Diego, this will be a ride to remember.

The Twilight Zone -Tower of Terror – A haunted hotel, a rickety elevator and you have the recipe for an exhilarating ride that takes you from the boiler room to the other haunted floors of the hotel.

Monstropolis on Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley – from Monsters Inc, ride in a taxi cab as you try to rescue a child who is loose in the city of Monstropolis. This is a great ride for the little ones since there is no height restrictions.

Toy Story Mania! – In 4D, this ride was inspired by Disney’s Pixar Toy Story. This ride is also for any height and you can try your aim at many of the targets along the way. You get to compete with other riders for the high score!

Silly Symphony Swings - Mickey Mouse is conducting and Donald Duck is trying to disrupt the music until a tornado comes through and tilts the ride on it’s side. There is a height restriction on this ride!

California Screamin’- This is a thrilling roller coaster ride that takes you up 120 feet and then lets you go at a dizzying 55 miles an hour with swoops, dips and curls. Make sure you are well buckled in and there is also a height restriction on this ride as well.

Grizzly River Run – is just what you might expect, a white water river run in the Sierra Nevada’s. A 6 minute ride that finishes in a spinning plunge down a white water river. Prepare to get wet on this exhilarating ride. There is also a height restriction on this ride.

Attractions at Disneyland Park

Pirates of the Caribbean – is a great ride on a bateau through the dead man’s grotto, find yourself in the middle of a pirate battle, and the watch how Captain Jack Sparrow eludes capture. This is a fun ride for everyone, there are no height restrictions.

Haunted Mansion - is a trip through a mansion originally inhabited by Master Edward Gracey. In fact he and his family are still there along with 999 ghosts, ghouls and goblins. They are looking for you to become the 1000th member of their ghoulish team. There are no height restrictions on this ride as well.

Indiana Jones Adventure - We all remember the movie about Indian Jones, well now you can experience a little of what was in the movie! Board a troop transport, travel to the forbidden eye, look for the 3 magical treasures and experience the wrath of Mara. It is all here in the the Indiana Jones Adventure. There is a height restriction on this ride.

Space Mountain - This is probably one of my favorite rides. Experience take off  into space, visit a black hole and hold on tight as your space ship careens through the heavens. This is a thrill ride with a height restriction. You may also want someone to hold on to your loose change, cameras and anything that could get dislodged while on the ride.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage – anyone can enjoy this ride into the depths of the ocean. Listen to the fish nearby and of course Nemo and Squirt and Martin who come to visit the sub as you descend into the ocean debts.

Splash Mountain - This is a 9 minute ride were you are going to get wet. Enjoy the cast of 103 critters, take the plunge into rapids to finally end up at the Briar patch. If you want to get wet, make sure you sit up at the front of the raft, were you are sure to get splashed! There is a height restriction on this ride.

Matterhorn Bobsleds – this is a 2.5 minute bobsled run down the mountain. Once you scale the 80 foot lift you can go down one of two bobsled runs, with the Fantasyland run being slightly longer than the Tomorrowland run. There is a height restriction on this ride.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – based on Bryce canyon in the state of Utah, ride a run away train down a 104 foot fall through tunnels and out into the desert. This is an exciting roller coaster ride with a height restriction

Dumbo the Flying Elephant – is a great ride for any one who wants to get on the Dumbo Flying Elephant ride. There is no height restriction on this ride  as you spin counter clockwise over a water filled moat!

“it’s a small world” – one of the classic rides, it’s a small world, takes you on a ride around the world visiting all of the continents and the main areas of the world.  There is no height restriction and everyone will enjoy this enchanting ride!

Something for Everyone

There are also interactive attractions, there are movie features that are based on 1955 classics and many smaller attractions for the little ones who may be too small for some of the rides. You can be sure that there is something for all ages at Disneyland, California.
